Why Miyetti Allah's Planned Legal Suit Against Southern Governors Could Be A Wasted Effort

For over a year, there were incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the Southern part of Nigeria and it gave birth to series of gruesome killings, destruction of farm produces and other private properties. Pained by the havoc caused by the clashes between farmers and herdsmen, the Southern Governors' Forum (SGF) made a unanimous decision to ban all forms of open grazing in the 17 Southern states in the country.

On the 5th of July, 2021, the Southern Governors' Forum (SGF) met in Lagos State and agreed that all Southern States will sign the anti-grazing bill into law on or before the 1st of September, 2021. As at the time of writing this, some Southern States, like Ondo, Rivers and Lagos States, have signed the anti-grazing bill into law, while other Southern States are still hesitating.
