2023: I Don't Want Any Easterner To Be President, He Will Fail - Bishop Mike Okonkwo

In a recent report by Daily Post, Mike Okonkwo, the founder and presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) has revealed why he does not want any easterner to be the president of Nigeria in 2023.

Recall that in the month of July, the Southern Governors Forum on declared support for rotation and zoning of the Presidency to the South in 2023. The agreement reached by the Southern Governors Forum triggered lots of reactions.

Bishop Mike Okonkwo stressed on the need of producing a president out of pity. He added that the South-East should not allow themselves to produce a president so they can be appeased. Butressing on the dangers of producing a president out of pity, Bishop Mike Okonkwo stated that such president will not succeed.

He made it known that all the easterners request is an opportunity for them to have a peaceful coexistence in the country.

"To the best of my knowledge, the easterners are not asking for anything other than live and let live.", Bishop Mike Okonkwo said.

He added that as a Nigerian, easterners have equal right as every other citizen of the country. He also cited the current situation of the country, stating that any easterner who becomes the president in 2023 will fail because of the present system of government.

"It's not a matter of being appeased. In fact, I don’t even want any easterner under this situation to be a president because he will fail. Do you know why? The present system can never allow you to succeed. That is why we have to look at the system.", he added.
